Restoration of Hot Wheels car makes for mesmerizing video

Watching a car restoration video? Sure, count me in! I love watching folks bring old, forgotten machines back from the near dead. What about doing this on a smaller scale? Well there's a YouTube channel out there that does just that, and the latest video shows you a bit of the process involved in bringing an old Hot Wheels classic back from the oxidized brink.

Our friends at Road & Track must've been up late playing on YouTube again. That would explain how they came across this oddly mesmerizing video of a man walking through some of the steps he's taken to restore one of his old Hot Wheels.

The scale car in question is a Custom Fleetside, which looks a lot like a conceptual cousin to a Chevrolet El Camino. It's heavily oxidized. It has cracks and scratches in the window. The paint is in terrible shape. But nearly all of that is about to change.

The paint is removed and a good portion of the underlying metal work is cleaned up. The car gets a fresh Spectroflame finish, and there's some custom touches applied to the bed and front and rear fascias. The resulting finished product is a far cry from where the car sat when the project started.

Hit play and you'll find yourself first wondering why you're watching this, and then realizing that you can't stop.
